It All Starts Here

A family visit to a nearby park a couple months after we got settled into our new house.

Our oldest son was about to venture off into the world of kindergarten and we knew we needed to find a home that would provide our family with great schools for the boys and a space we could grow into.  Unfortunately, in Portland’s booming housing market finding something in our price range in a decent school district was next to impossible.  Then my husband said for words that would change or future more than I could have ever known: “let’s move to Bend”.  I had never thought about leaving Portland, I was born there, spent my college years at University of Oregon and a few years as a nanny in Seattle, but Portland has always been home.  Our family was there, our friends, Tim’s (my husband) work, everything we knew and loved, but for some reason this just sounded right.  So I said ok and our journey began.  We packed up our pup and 3 boys during the worst winter Bend had seen in 20 years and moved to a house that Tim picked out without the rest of us ever seeing.  It was crazy but I new it was right.

It has almost been two years since living here and every time I go back to Portland to visit family or friends I think to myself, what took me so long to move?  How did I not know about this amazing place before?  We are a family who loves to play, get dirty, laugh and explore.  Sitting still is really not an option for any of us so we hope you will enjoy some of our adventures and maybe share some of your favorites with us.
